Sarah Aranha is a Toronto based artist and maker who works with watercolour, gouache and textiles.
Her work draws from the patterns, interactions and routines of the everyday. In her textile work, Sarah draws from patchwork and quilting traditions to interpret and reflect daily life, utilizing improv piecing techniques to create striking compositions. Her work on paper explores relationships to landscape and place.
A skilled arts facilitator, Sarah teaches watercolour, block printing, and still life drawing workshops geared to a range of audiences. She has taught with community groups and for organizations such as Hot Pizza Studio, The Bentway, MOCA Toronto, FoodShare, East End Arts, Youth Rising Above, and others.
Each summer since 2022, Sarah runs the Community Still Life Drawing program in a community-owned garden in Parkdale. Over 5 sessions each May through September, folks are invited to gather as a group to enjoy drawing together, in the beautiful community-run Milky Way Garden.
Sarah holds an MA in Adult Education and Community Development from the University of Toronto and a BFA Hons (Visual Arts) from York University. She lives and works in Toronto.
